Alicante’s fantastic weather and welcoming Mediterranean Sea are just two more of the city’s advantages which allow all sports to be played the year round. Alicante also has a comprehensive range of sports facilities, allowing the city to host international sporting events and competitions of widespread impact. The city of Alicante hosted the classification stage of Eurobasket 2007, and was also the home port for the 2002 and 2007 Tall Ships Races, venue for the Semi-final of the Davis Cup in 2004, for the 17th Word Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in 1993 and the Football World Cup in 1982.
